How do laser nail treatments work?
A fungal nail infection is caused by fungus that grows in and under the nail. Once the infection takes hold, it can be stubborn to treat. There are topical and oral medications, but these often take a long time and can have some negative side effects. Because of this, we offer laser nail treatment as alternative.
In this simple procedure, a hand-held probe is passed over the nail. It emits an intense beam of light that is targeted onto the affected area. It travels through the nail to eradicate the fungus underneath without harming the nail or surrounding tissue. The treatment is done right here in our office, is painless, and requires no anesthesia.
