Plantar fasciitis is an inflammation of the plantar fascia ligament that is basically a rubber band that holds the back of the foot to the front of the foot. It stretches out the arch and what happens is that it ends up getting inflamed. So, when it gets inflamed, it causes a lot of pain and inflammation in that region which ends up causing the symptoms that you have.
Most commonly it happens when you first step in the morning or during periods of rest. Let’s say you’re at work and you’re sitting down at your desk for a while and then you get up—that’s when you feel the pain.
Plantar fasciitis is treated with different modalities. There’s not one major thing that helps fix it. There are different things that you can do and we developed a protocol in the office to help treat plantar fasciitis to help get you back on your feet as quickly as possible.
